I recall watching “Buck Rogers” on TV during the 70s. There were scenes where the spcae craft had in-fligh computers that could talk directly and intellgently with humans. Aini, short for Artificial Intelligent Neural-network Identity (see www.ainibot.com), the brainchild of Associate Professor Goh Ong Sing, has stirred up great attention within the Artificial Intelligence engineering fratenery. The idea of having a more personalised and human-like interface between acomputer and a human being has been the subject of many science fiction works. In fact that was what got Goh started.
Goh’s research called Artificial Intelligent Natural-language Identity has caught on the eye of KRU Motion Pictures Bhd. UTeM, with the help of Maya Artificial Intelligent Sdn Bhd, has agreed to work together with KRU Motion to develop multimedia content for a MMS system. The commercialisation endeavour will feature a virtual Erra Fazira and probably other KRU artistes. Fans can then interact via MMS enabled phones with Avatars which are already pre-programmed with celebrity information.
