1st Prize, Remote Surveillance System (RSS), Microsoft Asia Student.Net Competition 2002

Goh was  a supervisor for a students who received the First Prize in the Microsoft Asia Student.Net Competition 2003 and received the award from Bill Gates in China. The team, which was formed after a round of national level competitions in Kuala Lumpur, developed an application known as the Remote Surveillance System (RSS). The system provides motion detection through a video surveillance software that captures images only when triggered by movements, providing time stamped video surveillance files of events as they occur without recording inactivity between events. The users will be informed via SMS and AINI’s system will trigger a notification to the local police department. The software, with its powerful motion detection algorithm, offers high quality, affordable video surveillance for home or office users. Butt Wai Choon, Managing Director, Microsoft Malaysia said, “The efforts of the local students demonstrate the rich talent pool that we have in Malaysia which is growing, and gaining regional recognition”.
